MAMP Pro v2.1.1 – Reverse Proxy for 4D

Reverse Proxy made easy

You might have seen this problem: customer has serveral domains and wants to run a web server for each of them. Combining the database into one isn’t an option. You got plenty of IPv4 addresses – fine! Otherwise – you might end up in an ugly solution with attached port numbers.

There is an easy way around it. Install MAMP Pro v2.x (XAMP on Windows) and configure a reverse proxy with Apache. All incoming web traffic on port 80 will be forwarded to a private IP address without NAT or playing with port numbers.

We are preparing the next ‘die4Dwerkstatt’ meeting (Aug 03, 2012, 4D-Werkstatt Wiesbaden) about this topic. Stay tuned!
