AUSTIN, TX, USA (March 11, 2014) — Xojo, Inc. today announced the immediate availability of Xojo 2014 Release 1, the faster development tool for web and desktop apps. Xojo is a multi-platform, object-oriented application development tool that enables people to created high-quality, powerful and secure applications for the desktop (OS X, Windows and Linux), web and web-mobile. Currently serving over 250,000 users worldwide, Xojo is the best environment for both professional developers and those who want to learn to program.
Xojo 2014 Release 1 contains over 107 improvements, 20 changes, and 6 new features, including the MoviePlayer now uses AVFoundation on OS X to support the Mac App Store and new Crypto functions for DER and BER conversion. In addition, we have significantly improved overall IDE performance and layout editor performance for webpages with a lot of controls. This release also features much improved tab behavior within the IDE.
Using Xojo developers can drag and drop the user interface and use one straight-forward programming language to implement the functionality of their app. Developers will experience true multi-platform development with Xojo, creating their app on OS X and delivering a completely native product to Windows users.
Xojo takes a unique approach with developing web applications by avoiding the complexities of traditional web technologies and instead offering one tool and language so developers can create web apps the same way they create desktop applications, resulting in dramatically faster development. And because Xojo compiles applications to machine code, the resulting web applications are very secure.
“When I first launched Xojo 2014 Release 1 I noticed major speed improvements for quite a big project,” commented Xojo user Amando Blasco. “Launching the IDE is much faster and even debugging speed has greatly improved. Overall this release has some surprisingly nice improvements!”
